Research by Santander Mortgages suggests George Osborne’s changes to the Stamp Duty will enable millions of middle-movers – people stuck in their first homes – to move up the property ladder.Buyers of a home worth the British national average of £275,000 will make a saving of £4,500 under the new rules.
Meanwhile, estate agents have predicted the move will see a cash injection into the housing market leading to higher prices in the coming months as buyers put the savings into improving their bids.
