Comedian Ken Dodd married his long-term partner two days before his death.

Although romantics would consider this a last expression of love from a dying man, it also meant that he avoided paying inheritance tax on his estate.

If the couple had not married, his £27.5m fortune would have seen an inheritance tax bill of nearly £11m. Sometimes it pays to be a romantic.
