The government has announced new plans to increase the number of homes in the UK. The proposals will include making it easier to knock down empty shops and replace them with residential housing and also new rights for home owners which will allow the installation of extra storeys without planning permission. The proposals will also include fast tracking rules to ensuring well-designed homes are approved quickly. The plans will hopefully deliver the construction of 300,000 new homes a year.
